ABOUT US
Optimist International is an association of more than 2,900 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids." The Optimist Club of Columbus, chartered in 1946, has a long standing history of serving children in our community. Our members conduct positive service projects in Columbus and the Valley area aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With our upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be.

Through various fundraising efforts over the years, the Optimist Club of Columbus has donated thousands of dollars to numerous organizations who support and empower youth. Some of these organizations include Boys and Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley, Sara Spano Clothing Bank, If I Had a Hammer, Our House, First Tee, Fore Kids Columbus, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (just to name a few).
Although we are serious about our mission and what we do, we are also serious about having fun while we do it! Our members genuinely enjoy each others company. We operate in a relaxed environment without dress codes and attendance guidelines, unlike some other civic organizations. Accomplishing our mission takes hard work and dedication at times. However, when you are working alongside people you like, being a "friend to youth" is so rewarding that the work feels like play.
The Optimist Club of Columbus meets the first (4) Wednesdays of every month from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the Country Club of Columbus, located at 2610 Cherokee Avenue. A lunch buffet is included as part of each members quarterly dues. We visit, conduct club business, and often times have various speakers from our community to keep us educated and informed. Good food, good company, good deeds - a winning combination! Send us an email if you'd like to learn more about us and come for a visit.
